Julia Walker, a retiree from Citizen’s Bank, is a long time supporter and promoter of community activities. She was a founding board member and secretary for the New School for Children, was instrumental in organizing Roxbury Community School and served for many years on the board of the Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity, Inc (M.E.T.C.O.). She has received multiple awards for community service including being honored for her contributions to the community at the 350th Anniversary of Black presence in Boston.
At 91, she continues to advocate for her community as a liaison to the mayor’s office for senior services. She works with the mayor’s office obtain financial support related to housing and utilities, tax services, transportation, and social activities for seniors throughout the Boston
area.
She is the matriarch of a large family that includes 4 generations below her. She was especially close to her grandson Kerry and is honored to serve on the board for the Kerry Fund.
